Unable to calibrate Canson Platine paper in a HP Z3100
« on: December 07, 2018, 03:06:05 pm »

In the past i used Canson Platine without any problem, but at the moment it refuses to calibrate.
All other paper calibrate well.- Platine is the problem...

The calculation at the end says : failure ... try again.
If i look at the patches i cannot find anything special compared to calibration targets with other paper.
It does not matter if i disquise it as any other paper or start a new custom paper of any kind.
Since i tried at least 10 times i thought maybe this community might have a solution.

Roll or sheet?
What size?

Hi Mark,
I tried both
started with a roll and then i cut the unused parts - and used them as sheets.
Probably something in the measurements is out of specs...
- but the thing is - it is my second roll and the first calibrated fine .

I am thinking of a way to use calibaration data of other paper to relate to platine as a work around.

(so far i introduced platine as a photopaper- or a fine art pearl paper - less ink-    or told the printer it was some kind of paper i already used.- calibration fails always.)

Hmmmmm.  Will it do a paper advance calibration?

Sometimes that will work to clear things up.  Then you can try to calibrate again.

One other idea.  Cut a piece from a roll, 13” x 19”.  Decurl the roll piece - make sure it’s flat.
Try loading sideways.  If it loads, try calibrating.

But do advance paper calibration first.

I seem to remember someone had a similar issue as this a while back on the forum.

You could try an exhaustive search.

Good luck!

I would make sure your heads are all good and do a full head cleaning of all channels. Then restart the printer.

I had a situation once where it would calibrate Photo media but not matte media and right after that the spectro died. Actually it didn’t die, the window on the spectro where the light comes in was covered with MK ink but I replaced it because I had already ordered the part.

Thank you both..
I will have a look.

As i understand it is some work to get to the colorsensor... and have a look at the state of it... ?
The heads are fine.

then i also will try to get the paper as flat as possible ans do a paper advance calibration
-we will see..
