The First Snow - Yosemite
« on: December 04, 2018, 08:24:51 pm »

Finally, Yosemite Valley was blanketed with a few inches or more of snow.  Darn it was cold for California, especially after the brutally hot summer.  I imagine somewhere in the burn zone there is still a stump smoldering under a blanket of snow?

Interestingly I think the last one works well only if you "know" Yosemite images. Not a bad thing at all, as it shows it's different, but I wonder whether somebody who doesn't know other pictures or the landscape itself would understand.

I know what you mean.  Whenever my wife asks me for a photograph to give as a gift, she always says to make sure it is something can be recognized.  However, looking for only icons can start to become unimaginative.  I liked what a friend of mine coined as Yosemite Without an Icon.
