With such limited printing why not just outsource?  You don't need to worry about the sunk costs of purchasing a printer.

That is a tough set of desires to reconcile. Maybe:
* accept reduced ability to print well on canvas* and a maximum print size of 13x19 inches / "A3+" (or cut down larger sheets for sizes up to 14x26.6 inches / 35.5x67.6cm), and get a Canon Pro-100;
* accept the need to make at least a purge print more often than every month or two and get a current Epson pigment-ink printer (the current ones seem much less clog-prone than your old 4900) that meets your size requirements (the P5000 replaced the 4900, or else the P400, P600, P800, P6000, P7000, etc.); or
* accept that you will consume a lot of ink with automatic self-cleanings and get a current Canon pigment-ink printer that meets your size requirements (the closest to your 4900 would be a Pro-1000 if you don't need to print from rolls or a Pro-2000 if you do, or else the Pro-10, Pro-4000, etc.).

*FWIW, I've printed on Red River canvas samples with the Pro-100, and IMO the results were better than I expected, but not great, with Dmax in particular not great, even allowing for its being canvas.

The HP Z series, based upon our sporadic use of a Z3200, was incredibly tolerant of rare use. Our Epson 4900 and 9900 were less tolerant. We know own a Canon Prograf 4000, but it's too early to say.

4900 worse printer Epson has made (except maybe the 4800).  I’ve been running a p5000  for over a year with far better success, still needs to clean occasionally (as do all pigment ink printers)

but I also don’t understand the economics.  If you add up the costs of the printer, inks, and paper you could print 2-3 prints a month for a a couple of years or longer and spend less money.
