Edit in Photoshop does not allow editing
« on: November 22, 2018, 06:55:38 pm »

I am using LR 8.0, Build 1193777 on Windows 10 and just noted that if I use the menu command Photo->Edit in Adobe Photoshop CC 2019, a Nikon D850 NEF does open in Photoshop, but the file can not be edited in Photoshop. All the menu items are grayed out. I am using Photoshop ver 20.0.1. Re-installing both Photoshop and LR does not resolve the problem. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a solution.

Rebooting the computer also does not help.

Regards,
Bill Janes

Known Windows/PS bug, Adobe knows about it, they need to fix it. If Photoshop is running first, that should solve the issue.

Andrew,

Thanks for your response. Your suggestion did fix the problem, but I can't explain why the problem appeared after I had been using LR for a long time and was able to edit in Photoshop without having PS running. Perhaps something changed in the various automatic upgrades of PS and LR.

It's a Windows only bug, turn OFF the Home Screen in preferences, then you can continue without having PS running first.
