I took the following selfie (almost 8 years ago, now) as a reminder. In truth, genetics played a much more important role than lifestyle. But I still try to make healthy choices. At the same time, I try to be good to myself, and to "live for today". 'Cause ya just never know about tomorrow.
Powerful and honest self portrait. Respect.

I made a similar photo after my inguinal hernia surgery (composed about one foot lower), and although publishing it here would increase the Lula visitor stats, there is a real risk that someone could use it as a kompromat in my dossier.

I've had two heart attacks but no surgery beyond a couple of stents. Cholesterol, as far as I know, rather than anything else. The first one arrived with the pension, if memory serves, but my hair mostly vanished a long time before that. I believe it makes me look more streamlined than I did when I had some - a lot - more.

Funny how some photographers never lose theirs: both Avedon and Newton took it with them, disproving, once and for ever, those who say that you can't.

One becomes philosophical about it, because nobody gets out of here alive, it's just a matter of how and when, after which, being in another dimension, it probably doesn't matter one way or the other.

I wonder if there really is a big studio up there or whether it's all available light? I might even get a Leica R 6.2  with unlimited, pre-paid Kodachrome that can still be processed.

Oh, now you're just bragging about the size of your, uh, scar.  ;D

Thank goodness for that! Just imagine if it had been one of those older guys from the flat paintings school!

Neatly-stitched scar, quite low at the upper end. Someone wanted you to be able to wear a shirt with the top button open. But four drains?

The only thing I know about drains has to do with a plunger or snake.  Operation was done by Chief of Cardiac Surgery at that particular hospital. Sugery: A+, Bedside manner ... well, you know, not a strong point. His very first comments to my daughter after the operation were "We had to do a fourth bypass. It was tedious."  ;D

That sounds like the kind of thing a cardiac surgeon would say, yes. I rather doubt the chief would have been there at the beginning or end, though.

Dr G. House has a lot for which to answer.

A Clockwork Orange tribute? I hope I never see a society like in that book or movie. But it is fine image to be sure. It has a hyperreal quality, as do some of your other people portraits.

Haven't seen anything even a little bit different, much less "totally" different in this thread, but it's obviously time to get rid of "Street Showcase" and replace it with "Selfie Showcase." It would be a terrific draw.
