USB- C external battery for shooting on location
« on: November 16, 2018, 05:49:23 pm »

Hello, Starting to research an external battery for the MacBook Pro 15-inch 2018 USB 3.1 gen 2 type-c.
I used to have a Hyperjuice for my old 2013 MBP, it was OK, is Hyperjuice still the go to brand or is there someone else I should be looking at?
Thanks!

I've used the RAVPower to do this and, with the appropriate cable, even power my camera.

Are you talking about powering the laptop while it's in use? Or charging the battery? There don't seem to be many options out there that will power a MacBook Pro 15" while shooting. I am also looking for one.

I have an Anker Powercore that does 30w but it's not enough to power my MacBook Pro 15" while in use.

I don't have one but looking at the specs of the RAVPower unit there's no way it is capable of charging a 15" Macbook Pro while in use.

Hyperjuice is coming out with a 100w unit that looks promising: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/hyperjuice-world-s-most-powerful-usb-c-power-bank#/

I think OmniCharge has some units that will charge a MacBook Pro while in use:  https://www.amazon.com/Omnicharge-AC-Portable-Power-Bank/dp/B072JWN6LC

And yet, mine does.

OK I'm buying it then! What year is your 15" MacBook Pro?

Powrbloc is probably your best bet. Uses batteries and can also plug into your car. www.powrbloc.com
