Mojave, i1Profiler, ColorPort, ColorThink, ColorNavigator
« on: October 28, 2018, 10:12:06 pm »

I am considering upgrading my operating system from High Sierra to Mojave.  Apple has warned that 32bit applications will not be supported by Mojave and I notice that i1Profiler, ColorPort, ColorThink and ColorNavigator are listed as 32bit applications on my computer.  Some of the developers of 32 bit applications I use have notified me that they have released or are about to release new 64 bit versions that will work with Mojave.  However, I have not seen notifications from any of the companies associated with the software I have listed.  Has an upgrade to Mojave caused compatibility problems for any other forum members?  Grateful for comments.  Rob

Mojave runs 32 bit applications just fine. The next major OS will not.

Thanks.  This is reassuring, at least for a year or two.

i1Profiler, ColorThink Pro run fine. Haven’t tried ColorPort but again, no issues to expect due to being 32 bit per se.

I just got off the phone with Eizo support where I learned, after 40 minutes of fruitlessly trying to connect my i1Pro2 for a profile adjustment, that Colornavigator 6 is not compatible with Mojave.

Colornavigator 7 will solve that problem but the release date was pushed back from Nov1 to Nov 13.

You won't find the download by navigating the Support pages, probably because it isn't released yet.  That's logical but not helpful -- a message about CN6 / Mojave incompatibility would have been nice.

Google helped me find the Colornavigator 7 download page here: https://www.eizoglobal.com/products/coloredge/cn7/index.html

It appears that ColorNavigator 7 only supports a small subset of monitors.
They are saying that more will be supported from January 2019.

I don't see any mention for support of my CG241W in ColorNavigator 7.  :(

I wonder if it will ever be supported? I guess I could switch to i1Profiler. What are the pro/cons of doing so?

tks, louie

It's worth a call to Eizo Support.  They've been quite helpful to me, including sitting through three profile runs in order to diagnose a problem (which they did successfully).  You may have to wait for a call-back but that didn't take long in my case.

I poked around on the Eizo site and discovered a newer release of ColorNavigator 6 (6.4.24) for High Sierra and Mojave. However, no joy there. It tried to startup and then produced a window with "Quit ColorNavigator" and an OK button. Just to check I plugged in a i1Display Pro to see if that would solve the problem but same result. :-\

Unfortunately the same thing happens to the previous version (6.4.19) that I had installed. So no way to create a new profile the Eizo ColorNavigator.

I finally found the technical support email and sent them a not explaining the situation. We'll see what happens.

The problem I described happens when I have a second user logged into my Mac Pro. While I was still running High Sierra, simply logging out of that account would allow CN to successfully start. Now after upgrading to Mojave (10.14.2) logging into a second account causes CN to immediately quit. However, it still would quit after logging out. I had to reboot in order to get CN to start.
