Makes me think of the emptiness of actual achievements of the current Brexit negotiations - or domestic UK soap opera, if you prefer the European slant on it - and our desire/demands for hanging on to the handy parking space in the club we nevertheless seem to want to leave; our inability to reconcile the fact that there are TWO independent lands called Ireland, though one is just part of a greater Britain (if only for now) that, without the mantle of a relatively borderless agreement as exists today thanks to membership of the EU, will have to have a border once that mantle is shred. Mexico and the USA come to mind as being an obvious example of two different, independent, adjoining states. The absurdity of saying that they should have no borders between them because some citizens of one live within the other and also share some common religious beliefs is crazy - though apparently not crazy in the eyes of some in Dublln, Belfast and London.
A strong, very contemporary photographic image that defines the abject hollowness of politicians of all colours today. Even more fittingly so if the image itself had nothing to do with political speeches, which might well be the case for all I know. Why more fitting? Because it would underline the huge differences between personal motivation, declared motivation and ultimate result.
