Intervalometer for Sony A7R3
« on: October 11, 2018, 10:34:06 pm »

I used the JJC TM-F2 with A7R2. For some reason it doesn’t fire the shutter on A7R3. I thought maybe compatibility problem, so I ordered a brand new aodelan TRS1, same result with 2 A7R3 cameras. I noticed both USB ports have a lot of play, besides that I am at loss for an explanation. Any ideas?
Anybody had success with another intervalometer? Now that there is no in camera apps and Sony doesn’t make an intervalometer, Sony Imaging Pro Support has no solution... and I am in the middle of a trip!

I have a JJC-TM (not-2) and the intervalometer works OK with the A7R3

Thank you for confirming that the JJC-TM (F2) works. Did you notice a lot of play between the JJC and the A7R3 USB port? This seems to be the problem for me, I'll be ordering another JJC to test.

BTW, Sony Imaging Pro Support says nothing has changed in the remote control port from the original A7R, so any device that works for the A7R should work with the A7R2 and A7R3.

Mine has no noticeable play.  No wear as I pretty much never use it.

If you belong to Sony Pro you can get a loaner camera from them while your's is being repaired (if you determine the USB port needs to be replaced).

Thanks again for the reply. I don't think the USB ports on my A7R3s are worn out. I bought the cameras only this summer, and never used those ports prior to a few weeks ago, and besides, that's two cameras. However, loose connection is definitively an issue for me, if I apply pressure forward to the connection, the remote works OK, otherwise it doesn't.

As an update, Sony determined that micro-USB port was faulty. To fix it, they had to replace the entire main board, resulting in all (numerous) custom settings erased. After repair, JJC intervalometer works OK.
