canon 8300 yellow drops out during print job?

hello,

lately the yellow stops printing during a print job. I get a few jobs ok then...yellow stops. There are no error msgs of any kind. If I do a head cleaning all is well for a few more jobs then...no yellow.
does not seem to be any way to predict when it drops out. suggestions?
