The first one, in the road, is great.  Funny yet somehow serious.  For me the face alone, without context, just looks angry and is puzzling for that reason.

Jim - these are rural folk, not accustomed to having a lens pointed at them. He was very friendly but as you can sense, a little unsure when posing for the camera.
