Cutting mats?

I am looking at getting a large cutting mat- roughly 4x6ft. 
Will be used for cutting paper, foam board, possibly canvas.
I would suspect 25-50 cuts a month, so low useage.
There seem to be two main types of self healing mats.
There are hard surface (self sealing) mats- which are more rigid and rugged.  Rhino mat is an example.
The other type is the more routine 3mm soft surface self-healing mat.
I will be cutting primarily with a scalpel or straight knife.
Any thoughts, specific brands, etc?

I’ve used Alvin cutting mats for decades, although smaller than what you require. The few times I've called them they were very helpful.

Another thing to consider is the surface "feel" of the mat. I just bought one of these: https://tinyurl.com/y7sbn5ls about 6'x4'which I suppose is the soft surface type and I'm pretty happy with it but the surface has a slight tack to it which means things don't slide around on it easily. I use the table for everything from paper cutting to framing to glass cutting and sometimes I think the tackiness is excellent, sometimes it is a pain.

I've covered my whole cutting table with a rolling-chair floor mat acquired from Office Depot, and cut to size to fit the table's surface, placing it textured-side up.   Works fine for all my mat cutting with an Xacto (sp?) type blade cutter.

Thanks for the helpful guidance. 
I am leaning more towards the harder surface, just did not want to do anything more stupid than I usually do.
