How to clean an Hasselblad H glass components?
« on: September 15, 2018, 01:23:28 am »

Hi all!

I wonder how do you clean the glasses on your Hassy H system:

- viewfinder bottom glass
- focus screen
- mirror

Thanks in advance!

The viewfinder is cleaned like a lens. The screen and mirror, you do not clean. Use a blower for dust if you must.

Thanks! I got the camera used and saw some fingerprints on the focusing screen... wondering what's the best way to clean it (without sending it to service obviously)

Trying to clean a focusing screen usually leads to frustration. If you must, you can try alcohol and soft wipes of q-tips. The better solution is simply to exchange the screen, they are not that expensive (about 100$ used).

If you're going to use alcohol make sure it's Isopropyl alcohol. Rubbing alcohol has an oil in solution with it.

Distilled water with tiny amount of ammonia and a lint free tissue also works.
