I know that officially aqueous printers are not rated for cutting canvas but I was wondering if solvent printers could. Thanks

Where did you hear aquous are not rated for cutting canvas?
I have 3-44” printers two that print nothing but canvas.
Neither has ever had the cutter replaced and we cut canvases by the hundreds.
The 9900 is a 2010 model and the 9890 is 2015.
Cuts like a hot knife through butter!

Great. Epson officially states that you're not supposed to.

99 times out 100 you will replace your printer before your cutter.
I think the new cutter replacement is something like$167.00, no factor.
Guys that refuse to use the cutter are doing so do to keep cutting dust from the printers internals.
Do a little wipedown or vacumn on a somewhat regular basis and you are good to go.

Great. Epson officially states that you're not supposed to.

If you go to the Epson web site and search media for a Surecolor 9000 as an example, under the fine art tab you'll find any number of recommended canvas products, so not sure where you saw this advice, as Dan says regular cleaning of dust and fibres in the media transport path and platen area is what's needed.
