I'm pretty sure if Bill lent some of that fog, I wouldn't have to take these impressionist images.

Putting on my (very amateur) art critic hat, I think you have developed a rather striking signature style, and that it has become increasingly refined over time.  I can't say I like every one of your images, but you have a lot more hits than misses.

Well, thank you very much Chris. For me, it is quite enjoyable, so I just keep on trying new things.
I used to be a landscape enthusiast, but that got more and more difficult and less enjoyable. At least for me. Too many post-cardy images and too much ability to alter images, caused me lose interest. I still love landscapes, but prefer the more subtle look, if you know what I mean.

Sunflower chronicles -1
Visited a sunflower farm. It was very hot but the light was beautiful, mostly soft and muted, alternating with some clouds and some harshness on occasion. The surreal colors in the second image are actually caused by the multiexposure feature on brightness mode. Here are two.

Stunning shots, both. Even #1 is outstanding, the sunflowers seem to look intensely at the viewer. I also like the sky a lot. The second shot is more peaceful. The colors are softer and there's a lot less details hence the sense of relaxation.
Well done again, John!

Thanks Francois and Eric. I have to back, not nearly done. My only drawback is that they don't allow tripods.

Sunflower chronicles -2
Not as striking as the first two images, but I think they have their charm.

The second one is appealing in that the foreground has definition.

These are lovely, John. You should write a book.

I first encountered these "techniques" as I thought of them at the time, from Freeman Patterson, a distinguished Canadian photographer. Your mastery of ICM and the artistry of your subject selection and rendering are impressive. If I must pick a favorite, it would have to be the top frame from -3 series.

If I had to pick one out of all of these sunflower pix so far, it would be the first of this latest pair.

Excellent set.

Thank you Eric. And I agree, the moment I set eyes on it. A sea of blur and wind.

Sunflower Chronicles -5

Last of the sunflowers. They are on their way out, and the sun got very harsh. Of course the flowers love it!

The red comes from overlapping images in multiexposure mode.
