As I said earlier, I am really enjoying your posts - some of the most creative and imaginative on this site. It also seems we are practically neighbours, as I am in Guelph.

I’m curious about what you are using as your “walking around” system.
Thanks again, Terry.

Equipment: Nothing exotic. I use a Pentax K5 (1.5 factor) with assorted lenses. Just broke my cherished 50-135, f2.8 lens (abt 75-200 equiv.) when it toppled on tripod because one of the legs gave way. This was the one I walk around with most of the time. Also have, 12-24, and Tamron 90mm macro, which I really like. Plan on buying either the new Nikon Z6 or Z7, or the Pentax K1, which is full frame camera with same sensor as Nikon 800. One of the problems with the Pentax system, is that few third parties support it and I can't get electronic extension tubes to do macro with. I have older manual Nikon lenses, and think that with new Nikon adapter I may be able to use them.

I saw a guy in High Park who had the Sony Rx10 IV. It was incredible! He shot birds by hand from quite a distance. Is that your travelling camera also?

Im not quite that up-to-date; I use the RX10iii for travelling. It really is a superb “walk-around” camera, better for static birds than birds in flight.

From another walk in Rhododendron Gardens. Just love this place.

So Eric and others who asked before, can see the scene before I moved the camera.

John,
I think you should get LuLa to prepare an instructional video on your "camera-in-motion" techniques.
I envision scenes such as, "the straight upward sweep," "the slow left-hand swirl," etc., etc.

I would find it fascinating.

Cheers,
Eric

Not many interested in ICM, Eric. I have found most people give up because they expect immediate results.

Here are a few more from the Rhododendron park walk:

This one has wispy, windy look to it. But also a little ominous in bw. And one to show the awesome flowery garden.

Thank you Eric and Degrub?. The first is a simple twist of camera and perhaps a double exposure, in camera. Not really sure because I took a series and exif data does not show info on multiple exposures.

Aha! So EXIF hasn't caught up with John R.
Maybe you need to invest in the upcoming EXIF++, which will include an Art-speak essay plus a detailed description of exactly what was happening when you took the picture.
(Example: "John's left foot got tangled in a Poison Ivy vine, causing him to trip. While falling, he accidentally pressed the shutter button twice, while twisting to avoid falling in the Poison Ivy patch...")

A walk at RBG gardens. Very sunny so tried a few things, like bw high contrast filter called Bold Monochrome. You can get reasonable results provided you choose suitable subjects.

That one hit the right balance again between pleasing abstract and just barely showing what it is. A true abstract impression.

Thanks Oscar. When it comes to abstract vs. semi abstract, for me, abstract requires more thought and careful seeing, coupled with experimentation to get it just right. So I produce fewer of them.

Really enjoy the images on this thread. Actually like the whole idea. Just have some fun with a camera on a daily walk. Wonderful.
