Most everyone is familiar with Bill's contributions to Photography and imaging generally. Turns out he was an early entrepreneur in smart phones as a founder of General Magic.

Fascinating story.

"This was the beginning of the most important company in the history of Silicon Valley that no one ever heard of” - former Apple CEO John Sculley.

He's a damn fine photographer too. I'm fortunate to have two of his prints hanging in the house.

Here's why General Magic never succeeded:
"General Magic co-founder Bill Atkinson hadn't showered for a few days and showed up in a Hawaiian shirt."

(Watch out, Jeff Schewe!)   ;D

lol.  Sounds a bit apocryphal but the stories of people working around the clock and sleeping at work are not fiction. I recall 100 hr weeks during intense product development. Exciting days. Probably still goes on up in the Valley around Sand Hill. I recall similar stories about Gates in the 80's.
