Create a color for Front and Back Book cover in Blurb
« on: July 30, 2018, 02:52:29 am »

Is there a way to use LR in the Book Module to add a color to the Front and Back cover of a book or do I need to create photos to act as the covers? If so, how? I can only get color in the Spine using Background. Thanks!

Select the cover pages, then use the Background panel. My guess is that you are struggling with selecting the cover pages. You click the area below the image, between the "Back Cover" and "Front Cover" text.

Yes, I've tried that. For some reason it is only selecting the spine.

Actually, the problem is this. The color appears wherever there is not a photo. We don't want any photos, and there isn't an option to have the whole page in color without a photo.

If you select the page as I described, you can apply a colour. But I wonder if you are being misled by a cover page layout with large grey photo cells which fill the whole page.

To see this, don't add any photos to the cover but apply a colour using the Background panel. Then export the book to PDF - you should see the cover.pdf is the colour you want. Alternatively, just resize the photo cells using the Cell padding and you should see the colour.

Actually there is a simple solution. If you pick a background color, it doesn't appear in the photo box. You can shrink the box to 0, and voila, color exists on the whole cover.
