Prague 'Postcard' Pictures - Your comments please
« on: June 24, 2018, 05:29:58 pm »

Hello! I've spent two days in Prague and while walking around with my wife and kids I snapped a couple of 'postcard' shots that I'd like to share with you here.

As a wedding photographer I don't shoot this stuff a lot so I'm curious to hear some feedback to learn from.

For more (and downloadable high res images) please have a look here:

Thanks

The last one does nothing for me: the ugly strip of tarmac down the middle wrecks it. I do like the second, though.

Yes, they're postcard pictures, what I've always called tourist pictures.

Maybe that's why Moritz called them Prague Postcard Photography  :D

Most tourists take pictures. Most don’t have the time or desire to spend their time creating ‘ art ‘, specially if there are kids and a family on tour, with them.

I like these for what they are. Not for what someone else would like them to have been.

As for their intended objective, they fulfill the purpose. However,I always prefer humans in the lands they have scaped ( overriding this preference more often than not though  :) ).

Thanks Moritz.

As a postcard I think the second is the best. It makes me think of one of the archetypes of this kind of photo (not only photo): the view of Naples (another magical city) from  the "Pino di Posillipo".

The first one works for me compositionwise.

I am not sure about the color treatment though.

Cheers,
Bernard
