Sussex Coast
« on: May 07, 2018, 04:28:26 pm »

I have spent 5 days walking along part of the South Coast of England. The weather was extremely variable with strong winds and heavy rain followed by clear blue skies. The black hut shot, actually a beach hut, was taken at Rye Harbour with a weather front coming in dumping rain for 36 hours. The fishing boats were on Hastings beach where they launch the boat from the beach. Different from my usual shots but a change is as good as a rest. Ken

Nice, especially the beach hut.

Perfect exposure for the boats and well framed.

Those look like some really sturdy dory's. I like the starkness of the black hut but the boats tell a more detailed story.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment in such glowing terms. Chris the sea in the English Channel is calm by British off shore standards with more than half the coast pointing at either the North Atlantic or the Arctic but it can get rough so these inshore commercial fishing boats need to stand up to some rough seas. The day before the sunny shots were taken a man was swept of a breakwater and drowned 30 miles East of Hastings where the fishing boats are beached. The are launched and retrieved using the little bulldozers shown in this panorama. Ken
