« on: April 04, 2018, 12:05:33 pm »

I'm tired of this forum hijacking threads for trivia.

I buy and use as little as I can possibly get away with, which in practice over a photographic lifetime has been very little.

Am I alone in despising the term gear?

As this is a shifting gear thread I should add that if anything is found to be surplus to requirements it's sold on eBay.

It's certainly not terribly appropriate, though I suppose even mainly solid state devices have gears of some kind, even if not to wind on digital films; just imagine if people had adopted the term tackle, instead.

It always sounded to me like the french "truc" and "machin"...
I think it would be more contemp to say f....g (beeeep) gear instead, init?

Fred, this is a wholly inappropriate post. It contributes nothing. Don't do it again.
