Fisher Towers
« on: March 27, 2018, 04:13:20 pm »

I hiked the Fishers Towers trail at sunset one evening last week and shot the images for this pano.
This is 5 vertical images at 15mm on full frame. I was closer than I wanted but didn't really have a good way to be farther in the direction I wanted. As a result I had to correct quite a bit of vertical perspective distortion.
I thought it came out better than I was expecting considering the challenges. Next time I am there I may try to get a better view from the next valley over and a longer lens.

Here's one looking toward the other valley.

Cool photos, I think the perspective is very good. the 2nd is good, too. interesting shapes there, a real photo-playground, isn‘t it?

Yes, it's always a treat for the eyes and almost overwhelming sometimes when the light really pops. I hadn't been in a couple of years and now I already want to get back to pursue some ideas I didn't have time for on this family trip.

Nice. #1: the right side almost looks like it was taken under different light from the left side. Probably just the angle of the rock? It helps the right side stand out.

Thanks. It may be some of both of those things. I think the light was just starting to lose intensity and I started on the right side and panned left. But I think it seemed a little brighter to my eyes too and those two surfaces may not be parallel.

The first one is stunning, with those intense reds. The second photo, while less spectacular reveals the beauty of the place from tall rock formations to smaller ones.

Very nice. I've wondered what the place looks like with decent weather. It was pretty stormy when I was there: http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=88729.msg723651#msg723651

Thanks, I was wishing for some more interesting clouds but I was only there one night and it was much clearer. The next morning was too cloudy with a pretty thick overcast so I was happy I got at least some decent light the night before.
Yours looks really nice too and I have some similar compositions, sans the dramatic sky of course.
