« on: March 24, 2018, 08:42:54 am »

A shot from April 2012 in the Val d'Orcia region just outside of San Querico and Pienza.

The camera was the Canon 1Ds III and the Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS II lens at 110mm.

One of my favorite non-alpine regions…
Well done!

Fantastic country-scape. Would this image be an example of how you use two exposures to ensure capturing all the highlights and shadow areas? Or maybe the sensor is good enough to capture the whole range in one exposure? I love how you can still see the hazy quality of light in the top portion as it approaches the sky.

Thanks John, the picture is from a single RAW file and post processed in Lightroom only. There are a couple of grad filters applied to level out the light difference between the sky and the landscape itself. But no problem in covering the dynamic range even on the Canon 1Ds III which is not even close to the best cameras of today. I always try to post process in a way that reveals the quality of light and the character of the landscape.
