The second one has the makings of a good idea. Can you include a bit more of the stone circle/wall? Perhaps include a complete one?
While I know what you mean, I'm not sure if completing the circles would explain too much. In any case trees lie just outside the bottom right corner and you lose the suggestion of cultivated areas intruding into the wild. It is interesting that people react positively to the second one which is the one I prefer.
The afternoon backlighting is what I like, Ken, though the area can merit a whole day. But you can be there any time you want in 15-20 minutes, compared to 6 hours for me
