Copying layers and posting them across images
« on: March 04, 2018, 01:12:04 pm »

I have a couple different exposures of the same scene and I want to copy and paste layers from one image in PS CC to another. I have included a screen shot to clarify my question. I want to take the two cloning layers and the curves layers as is from this image and apply it to another image ( a slightly different image in the same location). I tried searching for the method but I couldn't find much.
Thanks.

Just drag them over, holding down the shift key.

Not sure what the cloning layers are doing...but if they are destructive layers that use merged layers from below, they will not transfer to a different file.  Curve layers will be OK.  If there are masks, make sure the pixel dimensions are the same on both files.  I have also found that in order to get the masks to transfer properly, the receiving file needs to be zoomed out really small and the dragged layers are let go at a distant outside the canvas of the receiving files.  Otherwise the mask does not register properly.  I have no idea why.
