I like these. For me the third is most effective.

I was going to say the same thing. The third one has the 'balance.'

Yes, balance is the right word.
It's a nice set and I have to agree with both previous comments.

#3 is my preference too. Reminds me of the feet of some prehistoric monster.

Thanks everyone for the comments.  As usual they are interesting.  I understand the unanimous comment concerning balance but I have to admit that I rather favor the first shot.  I hope that isn't too much of an indication of a lack of balance on my part.  :o

That first one is my second choice.

Chuck, you have to decide whether you are photographing primarily to please the denizens of LuLa,
or primarily for yourself. It's OK to say (to yourself): "Those blithering idjits just don't get it!"   ;)

I like the way that #1 throws off the eye.  It would look good in 3D.

Eric - Of course you are right but I do finding it interesting to compare my preferences to others, on my own shots but also everyone's shots.  I am intrigued by what causes different folks to have different responses.  Sometimes it's pretty obvious but other times the reasons for preferences seem to be pretty subtle and they must reveal something about our experiences, personal mythology or whatever.  I don't think any off us are 'idjits' (at least if we keep the discussion non-political) - just different.

Alskjol - I like the way the first one pulls me past the repeated shapes into the bright spot (if I try to be analytical).  Maybe we are saying the same thing.

After reading the discussion, I find the first one appealing to me more than it did at first.
This happens to me with my own photos, too. My ideas of them sometimes change after I hear opinions from others.

For me too, the best for me, but a nice set.
