Borderless Printing 20x24 Image Prograf 2000
« on: January 10, 2018, 10:32:17 am »

Hi there!

I am having difficulties printing 20x24 borderless.  Although the Prograf driver shows a selection for this  (20 x 24 borderless), when I go to print it, I get an error.  I'd like to change it 90 degrees, but when I do that in the Print Settings, I get "...some will get cut off".  Not sure where to go from here...any help would be appreciated!  (Also, I'm using a Mac)

Large format printers will not do borderless printing on sheets.  If you want this option, you must print on a roll and you can than put the settings to do borderless and your output size.  If the roll is 20", you can do your 20x24 so it does the 20" end on the width and 24" on the length; otherwise use a 24" roll and put the mode in the correct way to fit it properly.

This option is the same for both Mac and PC, but borderless printing only with rolls unfortunately if using a printer 24" or larger in the aqueous models.
Per Canon's site for the Pro-2000/4000:

Borderless Printing Width
10, B4, A3, 14, A2, 17, B2 (20.28/515 mm), A1 (23.38/594mm), 24

Hope this helps.

Yes, I have a 24" roll loaded...when I go to print it says "the set paper doesn't support borderless printing".  In the manual, it only refers to matte which won't support it.  The driver is listed, I'm flummoxed.  The printer's screen recognizes there is 24" paper in there as well.

Ok, but if you look at the paper size, you have it selected as sheet, not roll.  It should be 24" or 20" roll.  You would do the size of the print in another option so it recognizes it as being fed to a roll (will do borderless this way) and the mentioned print size is 20x24.

On the print window, if you scroll down on the right side, it should provide the dimensions of the image.  On the Printer window, choose your size roll instead and it should provide other option this way to get you the requested print details.

If you want to attach another screenshot, I can see what is available.  I don't work on Mac much, so the options will be a little different.  Otherwise, use Canon's Print Studio Pro plug-in (free from their site) and everything would be available via the plug-in without needing to go through different settings (per button to pop-up wise).

Hi,

Thanks for your responses.  All is well.  The option for borderless on 20 x 24 was there, but for some reason I couldn't do it.  I ended up calling Epson who had me install their Print Studio application. BAM, everything worked as it should and I got a very nice borderless print.

Glad that the PSP tool worked upfront and you got the feature that you wanted!  Canon is helpful for sure when it comes to figuring out these types of issues.
