Blockchain technology is a very real disruptor basically getting rid of the middle man in many situations.

You just have to look at $300 billion Bitcoin to realise that there will be some very big winners and losers before the dust settles. Hopefully photographers will win out.

Good luck to Kodak and I hope that this business endeavor is more successful than the host of things they have attempted over the past 20 or so years.  Until someone can come up with a way to use block chain currency in every day transactions it will continue to just be a fad and subject to bubble investing.  there may be some winners but as with all speculations many more losers.  We already are seeing stories of people cashing out of retirement accounts to invest in Bitcoin futures.

I have not read too much on it, but it appears that the KodakCoin is not actually a currency (a symbolic representation of money that can be used to trade for goods and service with whomever in a given economy), but more like store credits and "store currencies."  Can KodakCoin be used with any vendor of an service at this point?

Regardless though, I am with Alan here.

Plus, at some point I foresee governments looking at cryptocurrencies as a threat against their sovereignty and ultimately shutting it down, or at least in their own countries.  Issuing a currency is one method governments use to maintain power and influence, and they are often hostile (in time) to any non-state currency.

For those whom disagree here, their are several examples in history of someone creating a non-state sanctioned currency that ultimately gets ruled to be illegal.  In quite a few cases, the inventors ended up without their heads too.

You can buy your next camera at Biccamera in Tokyo using bitcoins.

The Uber decal in the window just makes this shot. :)

Are you perhaps referring to my other thread, about Chevrolet Fleetmaster?

The disruption continues, I get the feeling it's going to end in tears.

Three thousand Bitcoin ATMs to launch across Australia.

The Kodak now trying to peddle Bitcoin mining gizmos isn't exactly the same as the one making Portra and Tri-X. The folks who own the brand name can slap it on all sorts o' stuff.

It's a licensed brand implementation by a third party, not the 'Kodak' that we love.

Yes, something like that is happening right now with cryptocurrency. I buy myself by possibility because I'm pretty sure the price will raise until December this year constantly. I’m monitoring its progress for almost two years and in the past 4-6 months big changes have happened on fondex.com. I’m investing in cryptocurrency for more than 5 years, basically if I knew everything what I know now I would sell all my belongings and even my house to invest 10 plus years ago and with all income to purchase BitCoin.  Do Forex also, and try my best with shares, indices. Here automated trading is in function and investment comes from passive incomes from side. All my deposits were unlimited by minimum amount and I raise by time. Positively effects that on both deposit and withdrawal there are no fees, only little commissions at the end of successful trades when I do with one click. Easy, working place I could do my stuff without any kind of specific education.

Can I trade my Instamatic for 1000 Kodak Coins, and then cash them in for real money?    :-\
