English Lake District Winter sunrise suggestion ?
« on: December 26, 2017, 04:14:07 am »

Having found at short notice I have a free day tomorrow, I thought I would head to the Lake District (England) for the day, starting with a sunrise.

Having not really been to the Lake District before, and not having much time to research, can anyone suggest some locations?

Forecast looks sunny with hopefully snow on the tops.

Thanks

Phil

Castlerigg would be spectacular.

Depending on where you’re coming from, consider also Surprise View, Borrowdale (I know, clichéed) or, if it’s open and passable, Hardknott Pass with views of Scafell Pike from Hardknott Roman Fort, not to mention the spectacular views along the way.

Thanks guys

Decided to stay local today in the end.   Think I need to do more research and planning so I can go higher, etc. in the Lakes.

I have a haunting shot I took at Castlerigg in a cold drizzle.  The place was deserted except for one person standing at the circle with a black umbrella.  Unfortunately the image has not been digitized.
