At the beach
« on: December 22, 2017, 08:44:25 am »

It is and on Lofoten in Norway in early February 2017. It is early morning before sunrise and with lots of light coming in.

It was shot with the Canon 5DSR and the Canon 11-24 f/4L lens at 11mm. I was down one my knees and close to the rock in the foreground and was looking to not only to create some foreground interest with the beginning of the curve of the rocks but also the light on the beach sand and detail from the water that had retracted at the low tide. I chose a white balance to create the contrast between the warm light and the colder and blue light. In about a month from now I'm off again to the Lofoten islands with a new group.

Thanks and it was shot on a tripod. The shutter speed at -4EV to avoid clipping of highlights was shot at 0.4s. The shot was bracketed from -4EV to 0EV and merged in Lightroom using the HDR exposure merge and then edited.

I like the 5DSR very much and is my preferred camera over the Nikon D810 that I also use. The only drawback of the 5DSR is the more limited DR. The resolution is fantastic and the colors are very good using a good camera profile. The D810 is a great camera and the limitations seems to have been removed with the D850. There is no 11-24 lens with the Nikon and I like the Canon 100-400 very much too. I could probably live a Nikon mount alternative, but had no reason really to check this out. I shoot mostly the Nikon D810 with the Nikon 70-200 f/4 VR lens which is a very good lens. I have a full set of lenses with both cameras for backup purposes and also to know both systems for the benefit of my workshop clients. At some point I will upgrade to the D850 also. The 5DSR is a big improvement over the 5D III, but some would prefer the 5D IV as a more general purpose camera than the 5DSR but with a significant less resolution.

Beautiful.

Thanks very much Paulo.

+1.

Thanks very much Eric.
