Lightroom 6.14 Just Released
« on: December 19, 2017, 06:25:13 AM »

Just got automatic notification that Lightroom 6.14 is available for download.  I guess this is the very last update to the perpetual licence version of Lightroom.

Thanks Dave, given Adobes history I'm a bit hesitant to install it right away. Any experience from others yet?

Whilst I moved on form LR  several years ago I have a touch of sadness with this news as I was with it from the Betas in 2006 through to v 5.7 at the end of 2014.

Lightroom 6.14 crashes here after updating...

MacOSX 10.9.5   :'(
let's hope it not a perpetual crash...

UPDATE:
system requirements:
Mac OS X v10.11 (El Capitan), macOS v10.12 (Sierra), or macOS v10.13 (High Sierra)**

of course they had to make it work in 10.13  so that is why 10.9 is not supported in their latest and final update.
The good news is that it will work with APFS and probably in 10.14 ...

Considering that it is just new camera support (that if you don't own no need to update) and two bugfixes that maybe do not affect you, you maybe can skip it. Here are the details: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/whats-new-in-lightroom-6-14/ , basically support for new cameras and lenses released in the last part of this year.

Thanks David, installed it yesterday to get a profile for the new Voigtlander Apo Lanthar 65 mm which is new in 6.14.
So far no bugs or crashes, so all seems well on W10.

Seems to be running fine on 10.13.2.

It looks ok in 10.11.6 (yes... I need to update...)

How can 6.14 be the last version update?
When I checked my LR in the Help tab, it said I have the following under System Info.  What am I missing?

Lightroom version: 6.6.1 [ 1083169 ]
 License: Perpetual
 Operating system: Windows 10
 Version: 10.0
 Application architecture: x64
 System architecture: x64
 etc.

It means you're 8 versions behind. To be comparable with the version number you quote the latest is now 6.14.0, allthough the last .0 is not mentioned.
Capice?

My info reads:

Lightroom version: 6.14 [ 1149743 ]
License: Perpetual
Language setting: en
Operating system: Windows 10 - Home Premium Edition
Version: 10.0.15063
Application architecture: x64
System architecture: x64

If you go to "Help" "Updates" the latest version (6.14) should be there to install.

Curious. Will it be available to be loaded into a future computer if Adobe no longer supports it?

What you need to be sure is a full installation file (.zip for windows or .dmg for MAC) of the 6.14 version (still have to find it on their website) as well as your licence number. Then it should install OK on any future computer. At some point in time they might stop the "updating" of earlier versions so I think this would be the best insurance against that happening.

EDIT: found it, it's on this page: Adobe download page

You can store it on a CD, DVD or memeory stick/card.
I think you could install it from there (if you unzipped it before putting it on there) but I would probably copy it over to the computer where I want to install it and then install from there.

Pieter, I logged on to my account at Adobe and updated to 6.14 from there.  But where's the program file in my computer that I can backup on a DVD for future use?  Do I have to separately download the file from the website?  How do you do that?

The other Pieter has the right link.  You can get all the serial numbers for purchased Adobe products at your account as well.  It is useful for you to keep track of the serial number on some form of durable media just in case.  I've got archive copies of all the installation files for the various Adobe products that I use.

I guess I haven't been clear what my problem is.  I just updated to 6.14 on my computer.  I went to My Portal at Adobe, signed in and clicked on the link to upgrade to 6.14,  The program downloaded and installed and is now running.  But I never just downloaded a file for 6.14 that I can find in my computer.  It's not in the Download folder.   The download and install process occurred in the background.

So now, how do I get the 6.14 file from Adobe that I can just save on a DVD so I can install it in the future on another computer without having to go back to Adobe?  Thanks.

Alan, you can go to the link that Pieter Kers or the one that I posted, expand the "Lightroom 6" section and download the full 6.14 version (make sure you choose the right one, there's a list for MAC and a list for W10). For W10 it's a zip file, so unzip it and copy the unzipped content over to a CD, DVD or memory stick and keep that at a safe place for future use (together with your licence number)
