UK readers - any sign of D850 near you?
« on: November 27, 2017, 04:44:28 am »

Just as title really - I traded in my D800 thinking it'd be just a few weeks until a shiny new D850 appeared. No sign, or even sign of a sign. How about you? Anybody been lucky yet?

I think the OP wants one NOW all those dealers you quote are taking pre-orders none are showing immediate availability, as are Dale, Grays etc etc.

Personally I'm looking to be lucky with a D810  ;)

According to Park Cameras, they are receiving regular deliveries.

All dealers are, they are going to those pre-orders I mentioned  8)

Globally the supplies are more limited than expected, it may be a component that is restricting the flow or Nikon applying stringent QC following previous launch "issues" with a higher "go back and try again build", who knows for sure?

The "best" strategy previously, unless you pre-ordered in the first few hours, is to use a smaller dealer as Nikon tries to be fair in distribution across the dealership but not weighted to customer numbers, top, top strategy is to join NPS though, priority guaranteed.

I wonder to what extent Nikon are shooting themselves in the foot with this fiasco. How many people get fed up with waiting and start considering alternative solutions...?

I think many people run to Sony now.
The new A7r3 was released later but is
now in the shops. I am afraid this is 2
extra points to Sony.

I have stopped my D850 order and bought
a Fuji gfx50s instrad. Fantastic camera!

Sony was commenting a week ago much more demand than expected... not sure if that will mean a similar situation like the D850. In China and Europe the camera is arriving to costumers. In USA and Canada the camera starts shipping tomorrow, so in next weeks we will know.

Our local store in Dayton, Ohio had one as of yesterday.
