A Few IR Photos from Around Town
« on: November 24, 2017, 07:39:55 pm »

I received an early Black Friday gift to myself, a Samyang 12mm F2 lens (about 40 percent off!)  So, today I took a few IR photos from around town as a storm was blowing in to test it out.

I'm partial to B&W photography since that is what I mostly shoot with my large format camera.  Shooting in IR make B&W that much more dramatic.

These were all shot using my Fugi XT-1 and a 720 nm IR filter.

I think I'm going to like this lens!

I recently bought an IR filter.  Much harder to learn than what I thought it would be.
I like your third image.  What were your numbers? (ISO/Shutter/Aperture)?

A lot of cameras have a strong hot mirror over the sensor, so they aren't able to capture IR very well.

I have three cameras that work great with IR, but none of my dslrs do.

The third image was captured at ISO 200 at F4 for 4 seconds

I like the composition in #1. the IR is not very evident, apart from a lightning of the plants.

I find with IR that clouds tend to become dramatic by default. The scene in the attached pic looked less dynamic in the visible spectrum.
