The Panasonic cameras have a feature called AF+MF. With this feature, once focus is acquired (with shutter half press or back button), you can use the manual focus ring to fine tune your focus. There are other features you can turn on such as a PIP zoom or focus peaking.
I am certain that I have used this feature in the past, but I needed it this past weekend and I could not get it to work. After going through all the settings several times I switched my lens just to make sure the issue was not there - it wasn't. I then fired up my older GH2, which has the same feature but lacking PIP or focus peaking, and it works fine.
I've gone in an reset all the settings relative this this a half dozen times but cannot make the feature work. The only thing I've not done is to do a total camera reset, which I'd prefer not to do as I have a very complicated set of custom settings I need and I don't want to lose them or need to rebuild them. (I do have them written down.)
Any suggestions as to why this feature would suddenly not be available even though the settings clearly have it turned on?
OK. I did the reset and that fixed it. Now it works properly. And, I did not lose my custom settings nor did I lose my function button settings. So, what exactly does reset reset when it resets?
