Here are four more from Blue Rocks, in color this time.

Yeah, such fascinating colours on the south shore. Have you done the Gaff Point Trail? It's at the end of Hirtles beach, 20-30 minutes from Lunenburg. The rocks there are also spectacular in colour. And then there is the shoreline around 2nd Peninsula, also about 20 minutes from Lunenburg, but in the opposite direction.

Nice trilogies.
I will check out Gaff Point Trail and 2nd Peninsula next trip north. Thanks for the suggestions.

For me, taking pictures is a lot safer than climbing. I used to be quite nimble but my balance and coordination has been somewhat compromised since I had a small TIA during my quad bypass surgery. The change has taken some time to get used to – tumbling down a river-bank a few weeks ago was a good reminder. Fortunately, more damage to my pride than my body.  :)
Glad to hear you're ok. I do a little rock scrambling but usually just to get my camera to a good position.

Ancient rocks at the Lake Superior North Shore:

That area of Canada is pretty special. I once spotted a photographic workshop that was based on capturing the November storms on Superior's north shore. I couldn't work out the logistics and timing, nor convince my wife that this would be a good vacation idea.  :)

Great stuff, Eric. I especially like the first one  (I found the same, or very similar, rock myself). For anyone wondering why Blue Rocks, Nova Scotia is called Blue Rocks, here are some colour images.

Very nice series, especially the 2nd.

Have a Nice Day.

Well, you never know what you'll find. There is a coastal village on the south shore named Port Mouton. But the original name of the place was "Sheep Overboard".

John,

the original workshops were called Gales of November and were organized by Rob Stimpson, and now Glenn Springer continues this tradition, but his workshop is held in a slightly more agreeable weather, this year on Oct 26-29. They shoot mainly around Wawa and in the northern end of the Lake Superior Provincial Park, whereas the picture of the old rocks which I posted was taken further south.

Maybe they should rename it "Breezes of October."   ;)

Actually, I prefer there the Breezes of September. That's when the water temperature in Lake Superior reaches its peak - around 15-16C (60F). Barely tolerable for a quick dip after a good hike. By November the water temperature in the lake drops to around 5-6C, and I instead of driving north and putting up with those gales and huge waves, scenic or scary, I'm heading straight south.

Some of these rocks can even be climbed.  This is an old scan from probably 1987.

Last time my legs would spread like that was at least that long ago.
