Minimising dust on the sensor
« on: September 27, 2017, 04:41:19 pm »

Hello all.
Six months ago I put a strip of double sided sticky tape in every rear lens cap. It's reduced the number of dust bunnies on the sensor. Every  bit helps.

Is it visibly noticeable how much dust has been collected on the strips?

Hard to tell. Clear tape on a black background. Is it stuff on the tape or imperfections on the surface layer?
I'm going by what I see on the images.

Hi David,

Good Idea. Another thing one can/should do is cleaning the threads/bayonet or the rear lens cap. I know that Canon, at one point, redesigned their rear lens caps by using a different material, so it would produce less wear and dust from the cap that could find its way into the camera's mirror box.

Cheers,
Bart
