Hp z3100 s upgrade issue
« on: September 15, 2017, 05:54:36 am »

Hi

Last year I upgraded my imac from 10.6.8 to Yosemite. I was printing on hpz3100 24" and it stopped printing before the end with 1 min to go, 1 inch approx. Had to revert old OS. I had upgrade latest drivers etc.

My printer works perfectly but I really need to upgrade OS. HP say they don't support the z3100 anymore.

Anyone else have this issue and resolved it?

No, i am on mavericks and it works fine. (the last system wit a complete disk utility, but already not supported by the latest software)
Only for the use of the  "HP advanced profiling solution "  i need 10.6.8
Yes, always a problem with upgrading systems... you have to check everything...
I am trying out 10.12 this week on my old macpro; you can still download it from apple but in a month or so you will be only able to download 10.13...
succes, PK

We have an HP Z3100GP and are on El Capitan--10.11.3. Everything works fine -- except the HP advanced profiling system, which stopped working several OS's ago. (10.6.8 sounds right.)

Being on 10.11.3 we can run the latest versions of Photoshop and Lightroom--thought we have not installed the latest versions yet.

Kers: please post how your test of OS 10.12 goes.

Hi Shaun,
Interesting. I am using my HPZ3100PS & my HPZ3200PS printing from Mac OS X version 9.5, Mavericks. I upgrade my machines to this OS via a situation-issue not unlike yours.

Here's the interesting part that took me to X.9.5 from X.7.5.  Last January, I was trying to print a rather large job on the HPZ3200PS, and it would print on paper 44" wide by about 72" long flawlessly from X.7.5, Lion, but when I went to print on canvas (nothing had changed but the media choice), it would fail at the last 6 inches. I burned through a very expensive roll of canvas on this project. I spent a week working with HP tech, and in the end when I told them I had experimented on printing the job from a computer with Mac OS Mavericks X.9.5 and it printed, they declared that to be the "answer," and so I had to upgrade the studio which I had previously standardized on X.7.5 prior. You say the newer OS is giving you issues and you are reverting to the older OS which is the opposite of my situation. Are we having fun yet? I wish I knew why these behaviors occur, but even getting kicked upstairs to a higher level of tech didn't provide an answer. I wish I had more to say that might help besides, I feel your pain.

Best of luck, and so long for now, Tom

Thanks for the replies. Really strange how there are different results from OS. Will have a look at el capitan as I really need latest LR.

shame

If I can help by giving other specs of what I am running with: drivers, firm ware, etc., let me know. I will be glad to help.

The differences could have to do with what we are trying to do with the software.
