Color worthiness of iMac

Greetings.... I have three photo editors that I'm about to upgrade to new Macs, and since budgets are budgets, I'm trying to get the most bang for the buck.  How is the color worthiness of the 20" iMac, and which calibration device are people having good results from on these all-in-one computer/monitors?  We need very accurate results, since their work is eventually going to CMYK presses around the world (mostly China) for calendars and book covers, but we don't need to take it to the ultimate techno-geek level...

My understanding is the iMac uses the same screen as the stand alone 20" Apple Display.  Altho you will find better displays (Eizo or maybe LaCie), the Apple Display is good.

The two calibrators I hear the best things about are the Monaco and EyeOne.

I've got a 20" iMac and with the EyeOne, it's decent but it's a far, far cry from my main G5 with a Sony Artisan. But then, I've yet to see an LCD under $5000 that I was even close to being impressed by.

Andrew: Thanks for the reply; the fact that you're using one at all is a decent endorsement; I spoke with you at FotoCare here in NYC a year or two ago and I ended up getting a Sony Artisan shortly thereafter.  Your book travels with me on the train, and I'm working my way through it... a very practical and well reasoned treatise!

I have been using imac in a school environment where both budget and size have been major consideration. The short take is that we have had excellent results with the 20" imac when calibrated using monaco software. But the 17" imac (the old G5) has not been very good at all. Have had to manually adjust profiles, otherwise the dark quarter tones have been much to light. After manual adjustment it works reasonably well though. But no way could I get good results from just using the calibration instrument.
Am installing a new 20" intel imac at the moment and it appears to be excellent!
