The jump in motion was just to obvious and overlapping dialogue did not work either.  Next time we will use two cameras for interviews.

People have made television docos for decades single camera.

I think going multi-cam before you know what you are doing will instill weakness in shooting.

So how is the interview covered with single cam?

Noddies and hands

Cut across audio chops with CU of gesticulating hands or an over the shoulder of the interviewer nodding.

Non synch wide

A wide shot from far enough back or with duff enough focus to appear to be a shot of the interviewer.

Watch some telly (painful I know) and try and work out how it was shot, how many cameras? how many crews etc.

I’ve been playing with PowerDirector 15 for the last few months. I love it. May be a bit “prosumer” for purists, but it does a great job. Literally dozens of tutorials online and a great forum. Regularly features in Top 10 lists. Worth a look.
