Avocets
« on: April 28, 2017, 11:53:24 pm »

Courtship and mating.
1. The female holds this head-down position for several minutes while the male forages very close by.
2. For a minute or so the male repeatedly froths the water beside the female's head.
3. Up! Just a few seconds.
4. The couple promenades side by side for a few seconds.

Thanks, Eric! Luckily this species isn't very shy.

Individually, those photos are very nice with #1, #3 and #4 being great. But as a set, they crank up my interest.
Well done!

Bob, Francois -- glad you liked them. I had never seen this before but was able to photograph it twice last week.
