Crash on portrait crop of portrait image?

I very consistently get a spinning beach ball crash when making a portrait oriented crop (4x5 aspect ratio, in this case) of a portrait oriented image. I don't have any problem with landscape crops of portrait oriented images, nor any crop of landscape oriented images.

Has anyone else seen such a thing?

macOS 10.12
C1 10.0.2
Olympus OM-D E-M1 (Mark I and Mark II)

Sorry Bob, I couldn't reproduce it. I tried both in sessions and catalogs.

As a matter of fact, I have both my main catalog and sessions open at the same time.

I tried in 11x17 as well as 4x5.

Acceleration is set to auto.

Also on a Mac.

I believe the main difference is that I'm shooting Nikon.

Download a NEF (Nikon raw) file and see if it still happens.

Good suggestion, maybe it's something that's camera model (specific Raw) related.
If so, then it allows the C1 support crew to hone in on a solution faster.

Jimmy, thanks for the troubleshooting help. That was exactly it! I tried a crop on one of my Nikon D610 images and it worked fine.

I will pass that detail along on my ticket to Phase One support.

Hmm, can not reproduce this with any Canon, Nikon, Sony, or Phase camera file from 2001 through 2016 models.  I even tried it on a Panasonic m43 file.

I'm starting to think there's something wrong with my setup here. Others have had success cropping .ORF files.

But what in the world could it be?

I have had many crashes but not doing that ,,mine have been just editing,,I think having too large a catalog is one thing..also I have been checking integrity alot more and backing up everytime I leave a catalog..

I am beginning to wonder about the stability of C1 on my system. Although I can't imagine what might be so different. Lr has never crashed.

Right now I'm running with Hardware Acceleration Never, Never (which should eliminate the GPU) and with the Filter tool removed from all panels (a tip from Jimmy Uptain).

I seem to have stumbled into a workaround. At least it's working for me right now.

If I start off by freehand rotating the image, I get an "automatic" crop to fit the image. That causes no problems. If I then adjust the size of that crop with the crop tool, I get the crop I want without a hang/crash.
