Canon User-Best RAW software ???
« on: November 22, 2016, 12:20:37 pm »

Just purchased a Canon 1DX Mark II--Canon tech support recommends their free Canon DPP4 raw software.
Any recommendations and advice would be appreciated.
          Thanks----Charley

DPP4 vs Lightroom -- There are times when I can coax a better file out of the DPP software than out of LR. Having said that, 95% of my workflow goes through LR. If I know I am going to go with a large print, I try a run through DPP. For production runs and normal prints, LR is, for me, a faster workflow. But DPP4 is free! I treat my Sony files the same way. I may run special ones through Capture One, but 95% just go through LR.

From a pixel peeping point of view and a sensitivity to color I much prefer DPP.
