printing borderless onto PhotoRagCards ?
« on: October 15, 2016, 12:20:30 pm »

Hi guys,

anyone ever tried to print borderless on the PhotoCards ( photo rag 308) from Hahnemuehle ?
I have tried and tried, but can't get it to work on my 3800.
no custom papersize, no <scale to papersize> in the printmodule, margins at 0, nothing...
but what's interesting, you can actually print them from the sheet feeder, which you are not supposed to do, apperently...
cheers
Stephan

oh and it's LR 6.7😁

Sheet feeder restrictions are based on the specified Epson paper type in the driver.

As far as borderless is it a supported borderless size?

Hi Wayne,
how do I find out if it's a " supported borderless size " ?
I have selected "ultra high presentation matte paper "

If you can use a feed option that means the Epson paper you chose in the driver is supported.  If the paper manufacturer tells you to use a different paper path, you are advised to do so, since the printer doesn't actually know what paper you are using.  The manufacturer is telling you a specific paper simply so the paper profile they provide you is valid but the physical paper may be thicker than the paper chosen in the driver.

As far as supported sizes, just search the specs or look in the manual.  Here's a copy/paste from Epson's specs on their site.

that's just the thing Wayne,
I have tried the 4X6 option, as somebody had mentioned this on another forum, but to no avail. there's still space left and right, as it's a portrait format I am trying to print.
will go through those options again in case I have missed something
thanks and I will update you on the progress
btw those cards look mighty fine
cheers

Did you use the borderless auto expand option in the driver?  If you use a standard option (sheet) it will still have a white border.

that is what I used before and now it works.
I suspect that sometimes when you change around too much without restarting LR, things like that happen.
there's no other explanation, because I printed a formerly working preset just then and it came out with two different distances on right and left.
guess it's time to finally pay for Mirage Print
cheers
and thanks for your help

The link no longer works.

For me I printed borderless from Photoshop (on the small 10x15 cm FineArt baryta card) on an Epson P700 from the rear feed.
Worked fine. Used the Auto Expand option in the Epson driver screen and then Scale to fit media in the Photoshop print dialog.

Also tried with borders using Epson Print Layout but it got it wrong wrt. centering. Had to cut a bit on the left to equalise.
Guess I'll stay with borderless for these cards. Not sure how much ink is lost.

Best regards,
Frank
