Phase did not really abandon the tech camera, with the 50mp and 100mp backs, instead they did quite a bit of work on the LCC process to make both backs work with tech cameras.
Per crops below, all taken with the IQ100, 32mm Rodenstock, 12mm of shift, with CF on.
Before the LCC is applied, yes there is an apparent loss of both color fidelity and saturation, along with the standard magenta shift (note the magenta shift happens with CCD also). However also note that there is very little loss in overall details due to noise, and the shift will pull up quite well. Once the LCC is applied you have a very good match to the color from the center of the file. Is it exact, no, never will be, and for solid sky (blue) it's still a trick to get an even blend, but to my way of looking, no harder than working with the IQ260 or 160. As has already been mentioned, the gains IMO outweigh the losses.
