At 'less than $10,000' it sounds attractive - Hasselblad X1D territory. More concerned about the quality of construction.  I prefer a certain amount of heft - think Leica S or SL rather than utilitarian Japanese. Pleased, though, that they ditched the x-trans. Looking forward to the first 'hands-on' reports.

I was quite impressed with many things about Fuji XT1, hopefully this fills the gaps that XT1 missed.

It's a beast!!,  The mini me XF!.  The bulge out for the LCD is an interesting feature.  I guess that is due to the shutter mass. 

Still a lot of questions to be answered, like EFC being offered or full electronic shutter.  As the EFC seems to be driven by the sensor (at least it is on the D810 and Nikon Pentax), wonder if the 50Mp Sony can even use EFC. 

Shutter shake, possible concern from many on other forums.

There is no sensor stabilization on this camera so it will be interesting to see how things "shake" out.

Spent a bit of time with Fuji and GFX today.  Feels good to hold.  Lenses feel lighter than I expected.  Clever design and ergonomics, feels really nice to hold, the sensor is different from other cameras.  Micro-lens and connections in the body are main differences.  Interesting vertical grip attachment, shown in our announcement article on this site.  This is the first in a series of G format cameras.   Fuji has a plan for this camera line much like the XT line and X Pro line.   The EVF is really clever.  It comes off and it can swivel so it is a waist lever eye piece finder.  Very clever.  More info and photos will come in our next show report.

The form factor does seem very much geared towards people who are comfortable with a single gripped FF DSLR but potentially less comfortable with the bulkier MF DSLR's.

 Let's see how much market this grabs; if it is successful there might be an MF renaissance.
 Pentax should follow suit.

If I see correctly that the film plane sensor position is marked to the RHS of the speed dial then my goodness there is an awful lot going on behind it in that depth.
Why do MFD cameras need that depth when "35mm" apparently don't? There must be only 2cm, less than an inch behind the D500 sensor mark I have sitting here and that has a swivel screen included.

This is just a guess, but until someone is willing to trash around 8000€ tear this down... My speculation will be the following point, much bigger sensor that it needs much bigger refrigeration... So, much more room to cool down the sensor (this sensor is always on in live view mode)... Also bigger image, so more powerful processor to to process the image and that probably means also more space to refrigerate the heat of those processors... Also, being everything bigger it needs a bigger battery... So, more space for that...

Saying that, we also need to consider that it has less space between the lens mount and the sensor, so all the electronics that Nikon can put in the front part needs to go in the back part... To see exactly how much extra space it is needed for the big sensor, a comparison with the xt-2 will be more fair...

Just found this video of my friend and landscapephotographer (and Fuji ambassador) Serkan Gunes working with the GFX in pretty harsh conditions. Looks like weather sealing should be ok.

No doubt it will be an excellent camera, based on previous Fuji products.

I still wish that they had allowed for a true MF button on the lens, as it appears that Fuji will use the same fly by wire AF on this camera. 
Fly by wire is fine for AF, but when you need MF, (which I use quite a bit), it's not that easy to use, at least for me. 

And turning from AF to MF after obtaining correct focus, will not work on a Fuji camera, you have to hit Focus check, and that IMO experience is iffy. 

Also turning off the camera will cause it to loose focus on all the fly by wire lenses (Which is most of them) some of the primes do have a true Manual switch like the 14mm and 16mm.

According to the Fuji Rumors site, the GFX thickness has to do with the battery chamber....

Excerpt...."The battery slides into the body from the left side rather than into the grip (like on the X1D)…which is the reason for the thickness…and more useful when the battery grip is attached or when it’s on a tripod"

Smart trick to surround the battery with the heat from the sensor. Should do better in the cold.

The GFX looks very interesting, not sure where it fits in. Is it a professional tool or a high end prosumer camera? It's gorgeous though I like the looks better than the Hassy.

Perfect backup for my XF with 3 lens package 23, 32-64 and 110 f2. If menu works like my XT2 I am set and ready to go. No X1D in my plans after today's announcement.
