Thanks for that, Terry. Could you explain a little bit more? These boats fish for lobster - that's why I left the lobster pots in the shot. Context?

I've cropped the image a bit, moved the boats off-centre, and darkened it a bit as looking at the first post, I thought it was a bit too bright.  Maybe it's a nothing shot when all is said and done! It caught my eye on the day....

It's a long way from a nothing shot, Seamus. It's gorgeous, and the lobster pots make the picture. Stick with the original. I hear what Terry's saying, but not every picture has to satisfy the rule of thirds.

Agreed! Regarding rules then an experienced photographer should go with his/hers instinct and forget about the "rules" If every photographer used the "rules" then creativity would be stifled and any originality would be lessened. Nice image.
