Computer cleaner glitch wiped my Adobe Cloud subscription?
« on: September 02, 2016, 08:10:54 pm »

I've been subscriber to Adobe's Cloud apps for photographers since day one, Lightroom and Photoshop. And I want to continue. However, it appears that a computer cleaner glitch wiped my Adobe Cloud subscription keys from my computer. Now when I go to update, the Creative Cloud dialog says "Buy Now." But when I go the CC website, my account info looks good, payments up to date. All good.

How do I get my apps (PS, LR) re-activated so I get the normal Creative Cloud dialog, either "Open" or Update?"

Paul, I'd be really surprised if Adobe did not have instructions for re-instating subscription status - after all there would be more such opportunities for subscription corruption than that instance alone. My suggestion would be to give them a call and ask for guidance. They've been helpful when I've had issues with deactivating and reactivating registrations.

Thanks Mark. Good news, it appears that logging in to my Creative Cloud account for review has healed whatever was wrong. Now when I go: Help > Updates I get the normal CC dialog with "Open" across from each app. Fixed!
Thanks again Mark, LuLa is a 24/7 friend.

The CC authentication can (in my experience) get a bit confused at times.  Sometimes it says you're logged in, but one or more programs won't work.  Going to the Creative Cloud app and logging out then logging in again usually cures it.  Even if it decides that you're already logged in on two machines it gives the option to sign out of all machines and log in again.

Paul, Are you on Mac or Windows? One option for Mac I understand is to use Carbon Copy Cloner for creating a fully bootable back-up of your system drive (and other drives) on an external drive. These can then be used to populate a new system if starting from an empty formatted disc (HD or SSD). Likewise on Windows I believe Acronis is still available for similar purposes. I've heard it may be necessary to re-initialize some licenses on the new system because the new drive won't be recognized as the host of the existing licenses, but that should be much less onerous than reinstalling a whole system. The exception to this approach could be trying to populate an OWC PCIe Mercury Accelsior, as OWC informed me there could be issues.
