Zion's Watchman at sunset
« on: July 28, 2016, 02:25:43 pm »

Almost all landmarks in Zion National Park have been named by Mormon pioneers after biblical characters or events. This is Zion's Watchman, photographed at sunset.

With the Pentax 645z and the 28-45mm. Thanks for viewing, best

Well done. I like the tonal uniformity and the leading lines.

Very nice!  I particularly like the cottonwoods and the silky, silvery water. How long was the exposure?

Wonderful and stunning. Everything balances so well tonally and compositionally.

Just beautifully done Vieri, for me it evokes an very Autumnal type of mood.

Lovely colour palette. My first inclination would have been to "correct" it. Either you've left it the way it was or made some thoughtful decisions on how it should look.

Thank you very much everyone for your comments, much appreciated - I am glad you enjoyed it! :D

@ Brookie: the exposure was 25 seconds

@ Terry: Thank you for commenting. It was February, and I loved the "autumnal" hues as Kevin put it, and accentuated them a little in post. I loved it that the river looks like metal, and brown / red palette around it :D

@ tonyrom: Thank you, I thought that the contrast that the red of the mountain brought balanced very well with the hues of the rest of the image - added by the leading line provided by the river, it really makes the Watchman the center of the image for me :D

Thanks again everyone, best
