Yet another from Symonds Yat
« on: July 26, 2016, 05:22:44 am »

Perhaps the most photographed view in all of England and perhaps the prettiest. It was a day of sun and cloud yesterday and after a long lunch at The Abbey Mill, Tintern and a light misty rain, the gods conspired in our favour to throw a rainbow into the mix, late in the day.

(Ed. Not pleased with the JPEG, so adjusted and re-posted).

Nice panorama. I do know how difficult it is to keep it 100% homogeneous with clouds moving that change the light.
Probably the first panorama with rainbow I've seen. ;)
There are quite similar views on our Vltava river - the meanders are pronounced in a similar way in panoramas thanks to extreme wide angle projection.

Very pleasing, Terry. I wonder if a little more contrast would highlight the shadowplay.

That would be my preference but I know that the way you rendered the image is your preference.

Yes, I agree. In fact the original on screen raw shows more local contrast than the JPEG. Ultimately, I will adjust for a print, so thanks for the heads-up.

A lovely gentle shot Terry but I am not sure about the most photographed view in England.

You're correct, of course; it may not be the most photographed, but I have frequently seen the view. Having travelled much of the U.K., there are many equally, if not more compelling landscapes, many of which garner similar attention to Symond's Yat. In fact, I am always amazed at how many spectacular vistas there are in such a small country (compared to, for example, my home country of Canada). The U.K. easily fits into southern Ontario and, while we have many fine landscape opportunities, there isn't quite the diversity found in the UK.
