Anglesea Wales Help
« on: July 10, 2016, 09:19:11 am »

Hey all

I'm leaving for Anglesea in Wales in 2 hours on a last minute business trip to sort out my lumachrome printer, I have a five and a half hour drive to get there.

I have no idea on the area so any advice on must shoot locations would be appreciated, there unil Tuesday so would like to get some night shots in this evening.

Please help I never go into a location blind sided, but this is a very last minute trip.

Mae dwy awr i gael i ti ddysgu Cymraeg.
So you have two hours to learn some Welsh. (and learn to spell Anglesey correctly)

Classic shots are:
South Stack Lighthouse and the cliffs of Craig Gogarth, both near Holyhead.
Beaumaris castle, the most perfect of the Edwardian castles.
Just West of the old suspension bridge one can shoot across the Menai Straits with the bridge in the middle ground and Snowdonia in the background.
Llanfair PG is a tourist must shoot at the railway station.
Near Llanfair PG is Bryn Celli DDu, an impressive Neolithic burial chamber.
Extensive wasteland of red copper deposits at Parys Mountain near Amlwch going back thousands of years.
Sheep!

This, of course, depends on the weather!

I live on Anglesey and it's a landscape photographer's paradise.  Aside from Ian's suggestions you should also consider:
  • Newborough beach and Ynys Llandwynn
  • Penmon
  • Aberffraw
  • Porth Trecastell
  • Rhosneigr
  • Holyhead breakwater and Breakwater park
  • Cemlyn nature reserve
  • Moelfre and Moelfre beach

Enjoy your trip.
